Team Press Release

The Alabama Renegades couldn't stop a strong Locomotion running attack Saturday night and lost their 2008 season opener 44-0 in Chattanooga.

The Renegade offense was able to move the ball and march down the field, but was never able to punch it into the end zone. Quarterback Nancy Byrd completed 8 of 23 passes for 71 yards and led the team in rushing gaining 91 yards in 12 carries. Linebacker Bird Gholston and defensive end Dana Sanders led the Renegades on defense. Gholston recorded seven solo tackles and seven assists while Sanders had eight solo tackles, three assists, and one fumble recovery. First-year Renegades, Link Green and Tiffany Colbert, also had an outstanding night on defense in their first career games.

The Renegades travel to Pensacola next to take on the Pensacola Power on Saturday, April 26. The Power lost their first game last weekend to the New Orleans Blaze. The game will be a renewed rivalry since these two teams haven't faced each other in two years.
